Dr. Cheryl Inkster is a Licensed Psychologist specializing in comprehensive psychological and developmental assessments for children, adolescents, and young adults. She provides psychoeducational and psychodiagnostic assessments addressing a range of learning, developmental, behavioural, and mental health concerns, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, giftedness, and intellectual functioning. Her assessments help individuals and families better understand strengths, challenges, and meaningful next steps.
Drawing on over 20 years of experience supporting children, youth, adults, and families, Dr. Inkster brings a comprehensive understanding of development, learning, behaviour, and mental health. Her assessment experience includes private practice, educational settings, and specialized developmental services, including Sunny Hill Health Centre for children. She has worked with individuals and families navigating a wide range of developmental, learning, behavioural, and mental health concerns.
Dr. Inkster's approach is collaborative, compassionate, and evidence-based. She believes that a quality assessment should not only answer questions but also provide practical recommendations that help individuals and families move forward with greater understanding and direction.
Before becoming a psychologist, Dr. Inkster worked in youth justice, residential care, and community-based child and youth services. These experiences shaped her understanding of the many factors that influence child and adolescent development and continue to inform her thoughtful, individualized approach to assessment.
Dr. Inkster holds a PhD in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia, a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from Simon Fraser University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child and Youth Care, and a Diploma in Youth Justice. She is also a Faculty member in the Child and Youth Care program at Douglas College, where she teaches and mentors future helping professionals.
